THE NOISE

The Drug Apostles are an experimental punk and noise project based at Château d’If in Iola, Kansas. Southern California punk roots meet industrial noise, post-punk, EDM, disco, hip-hop and spoken word. Heavy bass, aggressive guitars and dystopian storytelling hold the mess together.

We call it Sonic Vandalism. Chaos must be in harmony.

THE PERSON BEHIND IT

Gultchy Amore makes the music, recordings, mixes, artwork and this peculiar corner of the internet, working from an apartment with an iPad.

The origin story follows years in punk bands and backstage work, followed by the pandemic, lost work, failing eyesight and severe depression. Support, therapy, housing and a stubborn little dog helped him rebuild. Opening GarageBand gave him something to do. Making music gave him a reason to keep doing it.

THE DIVINE COMEDY PLAYERS

The band members are characters, different voices within one project, and roles that collaborators can perform.

Gultchy Amore handles vocals and instigation. Sonic Jesus supplies the bass. Remus and Romulus deliver the guitars, Chainsaw and Disturbing Fuckery respectively. Kaptain Skipper handles drums. DJ Fuck You brings turntables, samples and rhythmic sabotage.

The EP is conceived as theater. Songs carry the story, and guest musicians step into the cast without changing the characters.

THE INFLUENCES AND INSTIGATORS

Crass, Rudimentary Peni, Throbbing Gristle, Sonic Youth, John Cooper Clarke and Current 93 helped shape the sound. The Black Arabs showed how punk aggression could survive inside a disco groove.

The Instigators honors Marion Anderson and Goose 666. Their friendship, encouragement and refusal to let fear make the decisions helped Gultchy find the courage to create independently. They are remembered with love.

THE SAINTS AND ACCOMPLICES

The Saints recognize contributors to the recordings. Jacob Burner and Caseworker X supplied backing vocals for One Percent and The Looking Glass Gashes. Kevai Kingzio takes the role of DJ Fuck You on Me Gusta la Mala Vida.

The Accomplices recognize people who support the operation by listening, sharing, promoting and writing about it. Paul “Paz” Paraskeva was an early supporter. Nachtfragment gave us our first international write-up. Richard Luken introduced the project to readers of The Iola Register.

THE PRESS

Media Friends collects interviews, reviews and features, including Nachtfragment’s German review and Richard Luken’s “Noise with a purpose.”

THE BROADCASTS

The Ludovico Technique houses our YouTube videos, music, stories and commentary. Subjects include panic attacks, punk identity, conformity and whether punk is dead.

Gultchy Sez carries Substack updates. The Antisocials connect you to our social pages. Pissing People Off on the Internet documents what happened when joke artwork met a very serious argument about DIY and AI.

Apparently recreational confrontation occasionally requires paperwork.

THE ART AND BATHROOM WALL

The Shooting Gallery collects artwork, photographs and visual oddities. Contributions are welcome.

The Shit House is our public bathroom wall. Leave comments, jokes, artwork, praise or insults. At least here you don’t have to borrow a marker.

THE BLACK MARKET

Find music through Bandcamp and watch for the EP and apparel. There’s also How to Succeed in the Afterlife, our deeply questionable telepathic publishing venture. Delivery after death. Customer service may be difficult to reach.

IOLA AND ROACH

Château d’If is Gultchy’s name for his apartment, borrowed from The Count of Monte Cristo. The Iola page explores his experience of isolation, small-town expectations and making something that refuses to fit.

Roach is the second Drug Apostle, a miniature dachshund, best friend and daily reason to get out of bed. Caring for him helped Gultchy keep going when caring for himself felt impossible.
